Walking Boots Hanwag Friction II GTX Black
Item description
The Friction II was specially designed by Hanwag for the most extreme conditions. This shoe is ideal for glacier walks, trips to mountain peaks, or adventures in the high mountains. The top of this shoe is made from a combination of suede, sturdy Cordura® textile, and neoprene. This way your foot will be optimally protected and the shoe will become even firmer. The lining of this shoe is made from special Gore-Tex® material so that water cannot enter the shoe, but vapour and air can get out of the shoe. You will not get a clammy feeling, but your feet will remain dry. The sole consists of three layers: The comfortable and soft foot-bed will provide optimal shock absorption; the mid-sole provides the stiffness that characterises category D shoes; and the outer sole is also very stiff, has a deep profile, and has fastening points for semi-automatic crampons. This shoe offers, in contrast to most alpine shoes, more space at the toes for extra comfort, less pressure on the toes, better circulation, and the possibility of wearing even thicker socks.
Hanwag Size Guide
Hanwag works with specific shoe sizes. You can use our size guide below to determine the size you need. Note: The sizes and dimensions are simply indications and can sometimes differ. HANWAG makes use of specific shoe fittings, for example a Narrow fit, Wide fit, or Bunion fit. If a HANWAG shoe has been designed with a special fit, this is mentioned in the product title / description. If there is no mention of a specific type of fit, then you can assume that the shoe in question has a standard / average fit. HANWAG Narrow fit is suitable for those with a smaller foot width, HANWAG Wide fit is suitable for those with a larger foot width, and HANWAG Bunion fit is suitable for people whose big toe is crooked and bends towards their other toes (Hallux Valgus). When trekking and hiking, it's of vital importance that your footwear fits properly and comfortably. Your heel needs to sit securely in the back and your toes need to have enough room in the front. You can test this by putting the shoes on without tying up the laces. If it seems that there is a bit too much room at the sides or that it's a bit loose, then the heel is too wide for your feet. A top tip for checking if a shoe is the right size for you is seeing whether there is enough space for you to fit your finger between the tip of the shoe and your toes. If there is not enough space, then the shoe is too large; it's important to have this space so as to prevent your toes hitting the shoe when walking downhill.
